Bergamo Old Town

If you ever visit Bergamo then it’s definitely worth a visit to the old town! (also know as ‘Città alta’). You can reach here by taking the funicular or bus to the centre of the old town. Just off the main street is the square ‘Piazza Vecchia’ which contains the main clock tower, which is just 3 euros to go to the top (free for under 18’s). If you want to get some great photos of the lower town (Città bassa) of Bergamo then this is the perfect place. If you’re lucky enough to catch it, this clock tower rings 100 times every night at 10pm without fail. There are also many historical buildings and churches to visit in this area.
