Today I attended a ‘Why Be Enterprising?’ session on the importance of enterprising as a student. This made me realize the importance of making my CV stand out from the rest. Around 60% of students achieve a 2:1 or higher at the end of their degree; therefore basically have the same CV as everyone else in that situation. It raised the importance of attending extra out-of-uni sessions, networking with others and promoting yourself to get out there; as many as 95% of businesses nowadays are less than 10 people, meaning that the more skills you have, the better, as this shows you have the capability to pitch in and help with any situation. So at any chance to develop skills – take that chance!
We were also told to get a professional profile (not Facebook!), such as ‘LinkedIn’. Fortunately I already have a LinkedIn account, which can be found here.
